Our time together is spent  identifying your goals and needs, assessing areas of concern, and crafting a comprehensive care plan together. This meeting typically runs 90 minutes.  Topics may include:

• General Guidance and Reassurance
• Weight Checks
• Correcting a Painful Latch
• Exploring Nursing Positions
• Learning How to Nurse Multiples
• Nursing Special Needs Babies
• Exploring Supplemental Nursing Systems 

We will focus our time on creating an effective, efficient and sustainable pumping practice. This is a good appointment choice for those who may be returning to work, have decided to exclusively pump, or are simply seeking additional knowledge about pumping. 

Topics may include:

• Anatomy of Your Pump
• Flange Comfort and Sizing
• The How Tos of Exclusive Pumping
• Creating a Customized Pumping Schedule
• Optimizing Your Pumping Yields
• Preparing to Return to Work 
• How to Bottle Feed a Breastfed Baby
• Ways to Collaborate with Your Child's Care Provider

Our time together will be spent answering questions and discussing any concerns that you may have related to lactation. 

Topics may include:

• The How: Anatomy and Physiology of the Lactating Breast
• The What: A Baby's Ability to Nurse
• The When: Expectations in First Minutes, Days, Weeks, and Months 
• "This Isnt Ballet" : Positioning for Optimal Transfer and Comfort
• The Partner's Role: Empowering the Partner to Support the Mom
• Preparation for Baby and the Fourth Trimester
• Breastfeeding after Breast surgery

These appointments are designed for follow up care with an existing client. 

 Lactation consultations are customized to meet a client's needs. It is your time to discuss the topics you want to address. There are many reasons to see Karissa, here are a few: 

• Assessment for painful latching

• Infant weight checks or weight gain concerns 
• Identifying the Partner's role in lactation 
• A prenatal meeting to set yourself up for success

We  are in network directly with Aetna and Humana. Other insurance should be checked by visiting this page. We also process payments from FSA/HSA  cards.  If we are out of network, we will provide a superbill that you can submit to insurance for a reimbursement request. 

Initial consults are pretty darn comprehensive.. Usually one consult will get you moving in the right direction, and very often that is all that is necessary. Most insurance companies offer 3-5 consults at no cost and more can be requested if care is on going.
